My Story. My Why. Our District.
I'm Chantel Makuaole-Perrin, a Hawai'i County Council District 5 candidate, mother, and community advocate rooted in East Hawai'i. My life has been shaped by family, resilience, and a deep commitment to the people and places that make our district home.
District 5 is more than a map-it's our farms, our forests, our neighborhoods, and the families who travel miles each day for work, school, and opportunity. From Kea'au to Ainaloa to Mountain View and volcano, we are connected by one main lifeline-our shared responsibility to care for one another.
I've lived the realities our community faces-raising a family, navigating challenges, and understanding what it takes to build a stable, thriving life here in East Hawai'i. I know the importance of access to education, safe infrastructure, economic opportunity, and support for working families.
I'm running because our district deserves leadership that is present, grounded, and committed to real solutions. Leadership that listens, shows up, and works alongside the community-not above it.
This campaign is about us-our voices, our future, and the kind of District 5 we are building together.
What I'm Fighting For
-
Strong, reliable infrastructure
Highway 11 isn't just a road - it's our district lifeline connecting our communities, families, and livelihoods.
-
Access to education across rural communities
Our keiki shouldn't be limited by distance. Every child deserves equal opportunity to learn, grow, and succeed.
-
Local jobs and keeping families in Hawai'i
We must create opportunities that allow our people to stay, work, and build a future right here at home.
-
Support for keiki, families, and everyday life.
